July 5, 2007 – The King’s Gallery Closes in Walt Disney World
On July 5, 2007, the fine art merchandise stop The King’s Gallery closed in Walt Disney World. Selling such pieces as the glassware created by the Arribas Brothers, the store was located within Cinderella’s Castle, and was closed to allow the creation of Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. The artwork within the store was repurposed to fill the halls of the Main Street Cinema.
June 30, 2001 – Club Buzz – Lightyear’s Above the Rest Opens in Disneyland
“To infinity, and beyond!”
On June 30, 2001, the outdoor stage area Club Buzz – Lightyear’s Above the Rest opened in Disneyland’s Tomorrowland. Formerly Tomorrowland Terrace, the area was renamed and redone to feature a stage show and dance party featuring Buzz Lightyear from the Toy Story franchise. The live show featured Buzz fighting his nemesis Emperor Zurg. The area closed in 2006, becoming Tomorrowland Terrace once again, and being used as a training ground for the Jedi Training Academy.
June 6, 2002 – The Restaurant Café des Cascadeurs Opens in Walt Disney Studios Paris

On June 6, 2002, the quick service restaurant Café des Cascadeurs opened in Walt Disney Studios Paris. The restaurant is themed like a 1950s diner, featuring a beef, chicken, or veggie burger, along with Ben and Jerry’s ice cream for dessert.
June 4, 2008 – The United Kingdom Tour Production of Mary Poppins Kicks Off

On June 4, 2008, the United Kingdom touring production of Mary Poppins kicked off at the Theatre Royal in Plymouth. The tour, opening five months after the West End production closed, traveled to many popular venues within the United Kingdom, including the Hippodrome in Birmingham, and the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff. It featured Caroline Sheen as Mary Poppins, Daniel Crossley as Bert, Martin Ball as George Banks, and Louise Bowden as Winifred Banks. The tour concluded on April 18, 2009.
June 3, 2007 – Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest Wins Best Movie at the MTV Movie Awards

On June 3, 2007, the 2007 MTV Movie Awards were held at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California. The Disney live-action feature Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest scored two awards at the ceremony, including Best Movie; it beat out other blockbusters 300, Blades of Glory, Borat, and Little Miss Sunshine. Johnny Depp was also awarded Best Performance for his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the film, beating the likes of Beyonce for Dreamgirls and Gerard Butler for 300.
June 1, 2002 – The Attraction Journey into Imagination with Figment Reopens
“A little imagination goes a long way.”
On June 1, 2002, the Future World attraction Journey into Imagination reopened in Epcot. It was the first change to the attraction since its total revision in October of 1999. The original attraction opened in 1983, and went through many changes throughout its run, including a replacement of lead character Dreamfinder to Dr. Nigel Channing. The attraction still features the character of Figment, a small purple dragon that helps lead guests through the wild world of imagination. While originally sponsored by Kodak, the sponsorship ended in 2010.
May 31, 2008 – Pixar Place Opens in Disney’s Hollywood Studios
“The stars of Disney Pixar’s Toy Story films are ‘ready on set’ at Woody’s Picture Shootin’ Corral.”
On May 31, 2008, the Pixar-themed area Pixar Place opened in Disney’s Hollywood Studios Park. The area features the popular attraction Toy Story Midway Mania, along with a meet and greet with Toy Story characters Woody and Buzz, and the Toy Story Dept. merchandise store.
May 20, 2008 – The Compilation Tribute Album Disneymania 6 is Released Through Walt Disney Records
“Music stars sing Disney, their way!”
On May 20, 2008, the sixth compilation tribute album in the Disneymania series, aptly titled Disneymania 6, was released through Walt Disney Records. The album mostly featured artists under the Hollywood Studios record label or featured on Disney Channel, such as Demi Lovato and Plain White T’s. The album had four promotional singles: “Cruella de Vil” by Selena Gomez, “That’s How You Know” by Demi Lovato, “Kiss the Girl” by Colbie Caillat, and “Real Gone” by Billy Ray Cyrus. The album peaked at number 33 on the Billboard 200.
May 16, 2003 – The Animated Series Teacher’s Pet Wins Daytime Emmy Award

On May 16, 2003, the 30th Daytime Emmy Awards were held at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. At this ceremony, the animated television series Teacher’s Pet, which was part of ABC’s One Saturday Morning programming block, ended up winning an award for Outstanding Special Class Animated Program, its second and final win in this category. The show won against Static Shock, Madeline: My Fair Madeline, Ozzy & Drix, and Rolie Polie Olie.
May 14, 2002 – The English Version of Kingdom Hearts is Announced
“Kingdom Hearts is an epic tale of adventure, heroism and, ultimately, the sacrifice of what is held dearest for the greater good.”
On May 14, 2002, the English version of the popular Japanese game Kingdom Hearts was announced through public release. Created through a partnership with Square Co., Ltd., and Disney Interactive, the 3D role playing game introduces players to the character Sora who, alongside Donald and Goody, set off on a mission to find their friends and protect the Disney Castle; this was also the first game where multiple Disney characters and their worlds co-existed in one platform. The English cast of the game included Haley Joel Osment as Sora, David Gallagher as Riku, and Hayden Panettiere as Kairi.
