November 8, 2005 – Volume 1 of DuckTales is Released on DVD

On November, 2005, the first volume of the animated series DuckTales was released on a three-disc DVD set. Each disc contained nine episodes, and the set started with the first episode after the television movie “The Treasure of the Golden Suns.” The series was followed by two more volumes, with Volume 2 released on November 14, 2006, and Volume 3 released on November 13, 2007.

November 4, 2003 – The 2-Disc Collector’s Edition DVD of Finding Nemo is Released

On November 4, 2003, the 2-disc Collector’s Edition version of the animated feature film Finding Nemo was released on DVD. This special edition features a myriad of special features, including a documentaries of the film and Pixar studios, short films, a sneak peek at the next animated feature The Incredibles, and commentary by the makers of the film.

November 3, 2009 – Disney Announces Investment in Forest Conservation Projects

“That’s why as part of our company commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to protect diverse habitats we’re making a major investment in projects to protect forests…”

On November 3, 2009, The Walt Disney Company announced a $7 million investment in various forest conservation efforts worldwide, including the Amazon, the Congo, the Lower Mississippi River valley, and Northern California; $4 million of this will go to work with Conservation International for restoration projects in the Democratic Republic of Congo, as well as the Alto Mayo conservation project in Peru. Disney, already working on cutting down their fossil fuel use and their carbon footprint, made these donations to help partners Conservation International, The Nature Conservancy, and The Conservation Fund.

November 2, 2004 – Walt Disney Records Presents Superstar Hits is Released

On November 2, 2004, Walt Disney Records released the compilation album Walt Disney Records Presents Superstar Hits. The album contained pop versions of Disney songs from Disney’s more modern era, ranging from Beauty and the Beast, to Pixar’s Monsters Inc., to Treasure Planet; several of these songs were included in the credits of these animated films. Artists ranged from Peabo Bryson, Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera, and Tina Turner.

November 1, 2005 – The Soundtrack to Chicken Little is Released Through Walt Disney Records

On November 1, 2005, the soundtrack to Disney’s 46th animated feature film Chicken Little was released through Walt Disney Records. The film features no original songs, but covers of popular songs from a wide range of genres, including “Shake a Tail Feather” performed by the Cheetah Girls (originally by The Five Du-Tones), and “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” by the cast of the film (originally by Elton John and Kiki Dee. The soundtrack also features the score of the film by John Debney.

October 28, 2008 – The Rascal Flatts Album Greatest Hits Volume 1 is Released Through Lyric Street Records

On October 28, 2008, the first greatest hits album by country group Rascal Flatts, entitled Greatest Hits Volume 1, was released on Disney-owned country label Lyric Street Records. The album contained 13 of the band’s best hits from their first four studio albums, including “I’m Movin’ On,” “I Melt,” and “Bless the Broken Road.” The album also contained three Christmas songs as bonus tracks. The album peaked at number two on the Top Country Albums, and number 6 of the Billboard 200. The album was reissued in 2009 with four live bonus tracks, along with an audio interview with the band.

October 26, 2004 – The Compilation Album Greatest Disney TV & Film Hits by Christy Carlson Romano is Released Through Walt Disney Records

On October 26, 2004, the album Greatest Disney TV & Film Hits by Christy Carlson Romano was released through Walt Disney Records. The album was a compilation of songs Romano had recorded for several Disney projects, including the Disneymania series, Even Stevens, and Kim Possible. The original song “Dive In” was the only song recorded specifically for this release. The album is the only release by Romano.

October 24, 2008 – Pixie Hollow Opens in Walt Disney World

“[Tinker Bell] and four of her fairy friends…will have a permanent home in a new location called Pixie Hollow which will be located in Toontown.”

On October 24, 2008, the meet-and-greet area Pixie Hollow opened in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Park, just outside of Mickey’s Toontown Fair. Guests can be greeted by Tinker Bell and her four fairy friends Iridessa, Rosetta, Silvermist, and Fawn, who were introduced in the Tinker Bell series of movies, with the first one being released four days after this attraction opened. The attraction also featured interactive experiences and storytelling times for younger guests. An outdoor version of this meet-and-greet opened in Disneyland in November.

October 20, 2009 – LA Phil Presents the Disney Symphonic Legacy is Held at the Walt Disney Concert Hall

“The Disney Symphonic Legacy celebrates the connection between the inspiration of music and the heritage of Walt Disney’s legendary films.”

On October 20, 2009, a special concert entitled LA Phil Presents the Disney Symphonic Legacy was held at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. This was the first time since the hall opened in 2003 that it has had a program consisting of solely Disney music. The program was conducted by John Mauceri, and featured not only symphonic music, but live narration, vocal accompaniment, and rarely seen drawings and concept art from the Disney vault; the program also boasted the premiere of the symphonic retelling of Disney’s timeless classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

October 19, 2008 – The Disney Musical Tarzan Debuts in Hamburg, Germany

On October 19, 2008, the third international production of the musical Tarzan opened in Hamburg, German, at the Neue Flora Theater. It was jointly produced by Walt Disney Theatrical and Stage Entertainment. The first run of the musical featured Anton Zetterholm as Tarzan and Elisabeth Hübert as Jane; the pair were the winners of the reality program Ich Tarzan, Du Jane, with producers looking for the leads of the show. The production ran for five years, and a cast album was released.
