November 30, 2010 – Jennifer Grey and Kyle Massey Celebrate Launch of Epic Mickey Game

“The ballroom posed some difficult challenges for Jennifer, but similar to Mickey, she rose above them and came out a hero.”

On November 30, 2010, recent Dancing with the Stars contestants Kyle Massey and winner Jennifer Grey were on hand to celebrate the release of the new Epic Mickey video game at the Disney Store in Times Square. The pair were on hand when the store opened at 7:00 AM to meet fans for a handshake and photo, and provide copies of the new game. Massey is known as a Disney Channel star, having worked on popular shows such as That’s So Raven and Corey in the House. Grey is an actress, known for her roles in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Dirty Dancing. Guests were also able to meet game designer Warren Spector, and those that waited in the early hours were kept warm with special Mickey Mouse gloves and ears, as well as given breakfast from Epic Mickey-themed food trucks.

October 15, 2002 – Hilary Duff’s Debut Album Santa Claus Lane is Released Through Walt Disney Records

On October 15, 2002, the debut album of Disney Channel star Hilary Duff was released through Walt Disney Records. A Christmas album, the album features re-recordings of Christmas standards, such as “Jingle Bell Rock,” “Last Christmas,” and “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.” The titular song is the only original song on the album, written by producer Matthew Gerrard, Charlie Midnight, Bridget Benenate, and Jay Landers. The album debuted at number 154 on the Billboard 200, and peaked at the number 2 position on the Top Heatseekers and Top Kid Album charts.

August 18, 2008 – The Jonas Brothers Unveil Their Wax Figures as Madame Tussauds

On August 18, 2008, the popular Disney Channel stars and pop boy band the Jonas Brothers unveiled their wax figure likenesses at Madam Tussauds in Washington DC. Fans of the band showed up to see the unveiling and to meet the boys – and their statues – in person. The statues, a testament to the band’s popularity, also acted as promotion for the band’s upcoming album A Little Bit Longer.

April 30, 2008 – The Jonas Brothers Try the New Toy Story Mania Attraction

On April 30, 2008, Disney Channel stars and popular band The Jonas Brothers took a spin on the new Toy Story Mania attraction in Walt Disney World, which was set to open on May 31, 2008. The band was in the park filming Disney Channel Games, an Olympic-style event for Disney Channel stars to compete against each other. Along with the Jonas Brothers, stars Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, and the Cheetah Girls were also on hand to film the show and check out the attractions in Hollywood Studios.

March 2, 2007 – Disney Channel’s That’s So Raven Wins at the NAACP Image Awards

On March 2, 2007, the 38th Annual NAACP Image Awards were held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. The Disney Channel Series That’s So Raven won two awards: Outstanding Children’s Program, and Outstanding Performance in a Youth/Children’s Program – Series or Special for lead actress Raven-Symoné . This was the series first win as Outstanding Children’s Program, and Raven- Symoné’s fourth win in her category. The series would go on to win the same awards the following year in the show’s final season.

On October 26, 2004, the album Greatest Disney TV & Film Hits by Christy Carlson Romano was released through Walt Disney Records. The album was a compilation of songs Romano had recorded for several Disney projects, including the Disneymania series, Even Stevens, and Kim Possible. The original song “Dive In” was the only song recorded specifically for this release. The album is the only release by Romano.

September 29, 2009 – The Debut Album Kiss & Tell by Selena Gomez & the Scene is Released

On September 29, 2009, the debut album by the band Selena Gomez & the Scene, titled Kiss & Tell, was released through Hollywood Records. Gomez had been a Disney Channel star on The Wizards of Waverly Place since 2007, and had sung the theme song for the show; she also started making appearances on various soundtrack albums, which led to a record contract in 2008 with Disney-owned Hollywood Records. Wanting to be part of a band rather than have a solo career, the band members were quickly assembled, with Gomez naming them The Scene in a tongue-in-cheek way of teasing her critics. The album released two promotional singles, “Falling Down” and “Naturally,” with varying degrees of success. The album received mixed to positive reviews from critics, peaking at number nine on the Billboard 200.

September 28, 2004 – The Self-Titled Third Studio Album by Hilary Duff is Released Through Hollywood Records

On September 28, 2004, the self-titled third studio album by Disney Channel star Hilary Duff was released by Hollywood Records. The album contained two promotional singles: “Fly” and “Someone’s Watching Over Me.” While critical reviews ranged from mixed to negative, the album debuted and peaked at number two on the Billboard 200, selling 192,000 copies in its first week. It would eventually go on to be certified platinum by the RIAA. The album fared better in Canada, peaking at number one on the Canadian Albums Chart and going on to be certified triple platinum.

August 16, 2005 – Into the Rush, the Debut Album by Aly & AJ, is Released Through Hollywood Records

On August 16, 2005, the debut album of recording artists Aly & AJ, titled Into the Rush, was released through Hollywood Records. The album featured several promotional singles, including two cover songs: “Do You Believe in Magic” originally by The Lovin’ Spoonful and “Walking on Sunshine” originally by Katrina and the Waves. The album received favorable reviews, and debuted on the Billboard 200 at number 36. A deluxe version of the album was released almost a year later with two more singles: “Rush” and “Chemicals React.” Combined sales of the album and the deluxe album made the album the 112th bestselling album in 2006.
