July 1, 1996 – The BoardWalk Bakery Opens in Walt Disney World

“Stroll along the seashore till you stumble upon this quaint stop where you can entice your palate with a host of freshly made house favorites…”

On July 1, 1996, the BoardWalk Bakery opened in Walt Disney World’s BoardWalk Resort. Guests can enjoy a selection of pastries and sweet treats from morning until evening, as well as a special BoardWalk breakfast, as well as a variety of sandwiches for lunch and dinner.

June 27, 2016 – Frontera Cocina Opens in Disney Springs

“This contemporary culinary experience is sure to please friends, family and food lovers alike.”

On June 27, 2016, the Mexican restaurant Frontera Cocina opened in Walt Disney World’s Disney Springs area. Created by eight-time James Beard Award winning chef Rick Bayless, it features upscale, contemporary Mexican cuisine, starting from the chips and salsa, and featuring dishes such as the pepito torta, shrimp mojo de ajo, and coconut-lime cuatro leches. Guests of drinking age can also partake in specialty fresh-made margaritas.

June 25, 1995 – Le Cellier Reopens in Epcot

“Sensational Canadian Cuisine”

On June 25, 1995, the restaurant Le Cellier reopened in the Canada Pavilion of Epcot’s World Showcase. The restaurant had opened on October 1, 1982, and featured Canadian-inspired dishes, including maple syrup pie. When it reopened, the restaurant had been closed for about nine months, and underwent an overhaul top-to-bottom, including a new menu featuring sandwiches and salads. This was only the first of the restaurant’s changes, as this would only last for about two years; this version of Le Cellier would end on July 20, 1997, when it became a steakhouse.

June 13, 2012 – Carnation Café Reopens in Disneyland

“At last! An expanded and spruced-up Carnation Café is getting ready for its debut June 13 on Main Street, U.S.A., in Disneyland park.”

On June 13, 2012, the newly refurbished and expanded Carnation Café opened on Disneyland’s Main Street. The café expanded into the area that formerly housed the Blue Ribbon Bakery, and featured a new menu with a variety of new spins on some old favorites. The menu also featured a series of “Walt’s Favorites,” including a dish known as Homemade Meatloaf.

May 31, 2012 – Landscape of Flavors Opens in Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

“The amazing world of creativity and innovation of Disney animation will draw you into Landscape of Flavors – five mini-restaurants under one roof at Disney’s Art of Animation resort.”

On May 31, 2012, the food court area Landscape of Flavors opened in Walt Disney World’s Art of Animation resort. Comprised of five stations, the menu ranges from pizza and pasta, to Mongolian grilled fish. The menu is also separated into breakfast versus lunch and dinner. The area’s decor is inspired by the landscape art for the animated feature film The Lion King.

May 27, 2017 – The Satu’li Canteen Opens in Pandora – The World of Avatar

“Indulge in the art and culture of the Na’vi while dining inside this former RDA mess hall, only at Pandora – The World of Avatar.”

On May 27, 2017, the fast casual restaurant Satu’li Canteen opened in Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s newest expansion area Pandora – The World of Avatar. The restaurant features an internationally-inspired menu full of healthy dishes that include various proteins, grains, and plenty of vegetables. It also features a specialty dessert of Blueberry Cream Cheese Mousse with a passion fruit curd.

May 25, 1983 – The Village Haus Restaurant Opens in Disneyland

“Hi diddle-dee-dee, an actor’s life for me.”

On May 25, 1993, the Village Haus Restaurant opened in Disneyland’s Fantasyland area. Based on the animated feature Pinocchio, and first known as the Village Inn Restaurant, the menu featured quick-service dishes, including flatbread pizza, burgers, and grilled chicken. On February 24, 2017, the restaurant was changed to become the Red Rose Tavern, and changed to promote the upcoming live-action feature film Beauty and the Beast.

May 15, 2016 – Morimoto Asia Street Food Opens in Disney Springs

“Celebrate your senses as our chefs bring a timeless staple of Pan-Asian food culture to life with their unique culinary sensibilities.”

On May 15, 2016, the counter-service restaurant Morimoto Asia Street Food opened in Walt Disney World’s Disney Springs area. A spin-off of the popular Morimoto Asia restaurant, this service provides guests with upscale Pan-Asian street foods, including Bao Tacos, octopus fritters, and a selection of sushi rolls. Guests can also purchase specialty drinks, such as the non-alcoholic South Seas Slush.

May 6, 1988 – The Kringla Bakeri og Kafe Opens in Epcot’s Norway Pavilion

“Then ready yourself for conquest with Viking coffee!”

On May 6, 1988, the Kringla Bakeri og Kafe opened in Epcot’s World Showcase’s newest pavilion Norway. The café serves traditional Norwegian snacks, including a kjøttkake entrée (Norwegian meatballs), a sweet pretzel with chocolate, and a park favorite known as School Bread, which is a sweet cardamom bun filled with a vanilla custard and covered with toasted coconut. The café also serves coffee, Scandanavian beer, and wine.

April 27, 2015 – Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto Opens in Walt Disney World

“You grotto check out this tropical tiki bar that captures the romance of the South Seas through unique food and drinks.”

On April 27, 2015, the lounge Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto opened in the lobby of Walt Disney World’s Polynesian Resort. Named for the character in the Jungle Cruise attraction, the grotto provides guests a place to unwind and relax with a specialty cocktail and appetizer, which includes the Headhunter Sushi Roll, Hawaiian Poke, and the Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Rum cocktail. The grotto is similar to the Trader Sam’s Enchanted TIki Bar that opened in Disneyland in 2011.
