April 23, 2015 – Dockside Margaritas Opens in Walt Disney World’s Disney Springs

On April 23, 2015, the quick-service station Dockside Margaritas opened in the revamped Disney Springs area. The space, styled after a 1960s Florida fruit-stand, has specialty margaritas made-to-order, either on the rocks or frozen, along with other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The stand is also proud of serving craft beers from Florida breweries. Guests can enjoy the sights of Buena Vista Cove and listen to live entertainment while enjoying their drinks.

January 20 2014 – The Restaurant Spice Road Table Opens in Epcot

On January 20, 2014, the Spice Road Table Restaurant officially opened in Epcot’s Morocco Pavilion in the World Showcase. The restaurant, located on the lagoon side, was inspired by authentic outdoor cafes, and provides guests a prime seat for the IllumiNations fireworks show. The Mediterranean fare includes tapas and specialties, including spicy garlic shrimp and chicken skewers. While not originally accepting the Disney Dining Plan, most plans are now accepted at the restaurant.

December 20, 2002 – The Restaurant Ariel’s Grotto Opens in Disneyland’s Paradise Pier

On December 20, 2002, the restaurant Ariel’s Grotto opened in Disneyland’s Paradise Pier area of California Adventure. The restaurant is a buffet style dining experience, where guests can meet the Disney Princesses during the lunch dining period. It is one of the few restaurants that offers a World of Color dining package during dinner, where guests that participate are given priority seating to the World of Color nighttime show.

September 16, 1984 – Restaurant el Marrakesh Opens in Epcot’s Morocco Pavilion

On September 16, 1984, the Restaurant el Marrakesh opened in the Morocco Pavilion in Epcot’s World Showcase. This table service restaurant gives guests a taste of Moroccan cuisine, including Chicken Bastilla, Couscous M’Rouzia Fassi, and the Marrakesh Delight, which is a fruit salad topped with mint ice cream, toasted almonds, and orange blossom water. Guests are entertained while they dine by lively music and spirited belly dancers.

September 9, 2013 – The California Grill Reopens at Walt Disney World’s Contemporary Resort

On September 9, 2013, the reimagined California Grill opened at the top of Walt Disney World’s Contemporary Resort. The grill, which closed on February 1, 2013, was given a top to bottom overhaul from the menu to the décor. New popular dishes include the Pork Two Ways, the House-Made Charcuterie, and the Hot Banana Fritters. The view from the restaurant also gives diners a spectacular view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks shows.

August 18, 1986 – The Quick Service Restaurant Crockett’s Tavern Opens in Walt Disney World

On August 18, 1986, the quick service restaurant Crockett’s Tavern opened in Walt Disney World’s Fort Wilderness Resort. It replaced the Campfire Snack Bar, and provides specialty appetizers, including chicken wings, Smoke House Nachos, and Uncle John’s Taters: potato skis loaded with fried peppers, onions, parmesan cheese, chive sour cream, and green onions. Specialty cocktails and alcoholic beverages are also available for adults. Unlike most quick services places within the park, Crockett’s Tavern does not accept dining plans.

August 10, 1994 – The Concourse Steak House Opens in Walt Disney World’s Contemporary Resort

On August 10, 1994, the Concourse Steak House opened in the Contemporary Resort of Walt Disney World. The table service restaurant, located on the fourth floor of the resort, replaced the Concourse Grill. The restaurant gave guests a view of Mary Blair’s southwestern-themed mural, with a modern southwestern theme to match. It offered breakfast, lunch, and dinner to guests, with a reservation highly recommended due to demand. The restaurant closed on May 31, 2008.

August 6, 1996 – Rainforest Café Opens in Walt Disney World’s Downtown Disney

On August 6, 1996, the Rainforest Café opened in Walt Disney World’s Downtown Disney area. The restaurant replaced Chef Mickey’s (not to be confused with the restaurant of the same name in the Contemporary Resort), and is themed after the rainforest, complete with waterfalls, tropical animals, and a volcano. The restaurant features themed American fare, including Rainforest Pita Quesadillas, a Blue Mountain Chicken Sandwich, and the Sparkling Volcano dessert, complete with a decorative “sparkler.” Several other Rainforest Cafes have opened in Disney parks, including Animal Kingdom, Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and Tokyo Disneyland.

August 1, 1997 – The Maya Grill Opens in Walt Disney World’s Coronado Springs Resort

On August 1, 1997, the Maya Grill opened in the Coronado Springs Resort in Walt Disney World. The restaurant features a mix of traditional Mexican fare with American dishes. Featured menu items include Green Tortilla Soup, Maya Grill’s Signature Fajita Skillet, and Dessert Shots featuring a choice of Key Lime Pie, Cappuccino Dulce de Leche, Chocolate Mud Pie, Peanut Butter Parfait, and Gran Marnier Berries n’ Cream.

July 14, 1973 – The American Egg House Restaurant Opens in Disneyland

On July 14, 1973, the restaurant The American Egg House opened on Disneyland’s Main Street. Sponsored by the American Egg Board, it was a popular location for breakfast when guests entered the park. The restaurant featured a turn-of-the-century décor to keep with the look and feel of Main Street, and served specialty omelets and egg dishes, as well as several sweet treats. The restaurant was closed on September 30, 1983.
