March 27, 2009 – The Celebrate! A Street Party Parade Begins in Disneyland

On March 27, 2009, the Celebrate! A Street Party daytime parade began its run in Disneyland. The parade, added for the “What Will You Celebrate” festivities of 2009, started from the it’s a small world attraction and wandered down toward Main Street. There were three special “celebration zones” for guests to be in where the parade would stop and entertain guests with a special dance to the songs chosen for the show. Songs included “I Love Rock and Roll,” “I Wanna Be Like You,” and “Friend Like Me,” as well as an original son g for the show, “Celebrate You,” played at the end of the show. Several Disney characters were on hand for the parade, including a special appearance of Chip and Dale’s paramour, Clarice.

March 9, 2014 – The Festival of Fantasy Parade Debuts in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom

“Experience all-new magic as Magic Kingdom park comes alive with music and dancing in this parade celebrating Fantasyland.”

On March 9, 2014, the newest daytime parade, the Festival of Fantasy Parade, debuted in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Park. The parade aimed to combine Fantasyland with its newest expansion New Fantasyland, culminating in a parade of grandiose parade floats, special new costumes, and a soundtrack of Disney music featuring old classics and new favorites. Ranging from Peter Pan to Frozen, the parade also features special technological and theatrical elements to give a snapshot of each film, with the most impressive being the Maleficent dragon, a clockwork dragon that has since become the symbol of the parade.

January 16, 2011 – The Pixar Pals Countdown to Fun! Parade Premieres in Hollywood Studios

“Everyone countdown to fun now!”

On January 16, 2011, the Pixar Pals Countdown to Fun! parade began its run in Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios park. The parade was a considerably shorter version of the previous Block Party Bash Parade, with the run time lasting only about ten minutes. It featured characters from The Incredibles, A Bug’s Life, Ratatouille, Monsters Inc., Up, and Toy Story.The parade was unable to keep guest interest, and was retired on April 6, 2013.

January 8, 1996 – The Fairy Tale Festival Begins in Disneyland Paris

“…Disneyland Paris paid tribute to the great authors of European fairy tales as it revived the most enchanting ones for the joy of all our visitors…”

On January 8, 1996, the Fairy Tale Festival began in Disneyland Paris. This seasonal festival celebrated famous European fairy tale authors and their creations, and included such features as a giant gingerbread house, a pumpkin that magically turned into Cinderella’s carriage, and a parade featuring “new” fairy tales in the Disney animated films cannon, including The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast. The event lasted until April 4, 1996.

November 26, 2009 – The Sailor Mickey Mouse Balloon Premieres at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

On November 26, 2009, the Sailor Mickey Mouse balloon, celebrating the Disney Cruise Line, was added to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. The 61-foot-tall, 600 pound balloon is the 4th version of Mickey to appear in the parade, with its previous incarnation Bandleader Mickey last appearing in 2000. The balloon takes 70 volunteers to walk with it along the parade route.

November 22, 1984 – The Donald Duck Balloon Appears in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

“…old favorite Donald Duck, after years in the Macy’s warehouse, took another flight down the route in honor of this 50th birthday.”

On November 22, 1984, to continue the celebrations for Donald Duck’s 50th birthday, a special balloon of Donald flew in the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The Donald Duck balloon originally flew in 1935, with a new version created in 1962; he also appeared in the parade in 1972 alongside Mickey to mark the anniversary of the opening of Walt Disney World. This 1984 celebration was the first time the Donald balloon had been out of the warehouse in several years. Donald appeared in the parade right after the Tom Turkey float.

October 26, 2009 –Tiana’s Showboat Jubilee Premieres at Walt Disney World

“Now, the riverside comes alive New Orleans style.”

On October 26, 2009, Tiana’s Showboat Jubilee premiered at Walt Disney World. The celebration was the first of its kind celebrating the 9th official Disney princess from The Princess and the Frog, and combined a parade in Liberty Square, followed by a showboat ride with a live jazz band. A similar celebration opened in Disneyland on November 6. The celebration lasted ten weeks, along with other surprises to celebrate the film, and the celebration ended on January 3, 2010.

October 22, 2010 – The Rolling Stage Show “Disney Channel Rocks!” Premieres in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

“Turn the beat up, party up!”

On October 22, 2010, the rolling stage show “Disney Channel Rocks!” premiered in Disney’s Hollywood Studios Park. The show traveled along Hollywood Boulevard before stopping for its main performance in front of the Sorcerer’s Hat. It was similar to its predecessor, “High School Musical 3: Senior Year – Right Here! Right Now!” in its format and showcasing song structure. The show itself featured music from several popular Disney Channel films, including Camp Rock and StarStruck. It closed on April 6, 2013.

June 27, 1997 – The Hercules “Zero to Hero” Victory Parade Begins in Disney-MGM Studios

“When the Hercules – Zero to Hero Victory Parade rolled into Disney’s Hollywood Studios…it once and for all answered the question, ‘Who put the ‘glad’ in ‘gladiator’?’”

On June 27, 1997, the Hercules “Zero to Hero” Victory Parade began its run in the Disney-MGM Studios (now known as Hollywood Studios). The 14-minute parade promoted the 1997 animated feature film Hercules, featuring the characters of Hercules, Meg, the Muses, Phil, and Hades. A similar parade called the Hercules Victory Parade began in Disneyland on the same day. The parade ran until 1998, which was then replaced with a parade for the film Mulan.

April 2, 1993 – The Daytime Parade Aladdin’s Royal Caravan Begins its Run at Disneyland

On April 2, 1993, the daytime parade Aladdin’s Royal Caravan began its run at Disneyland, several months after the parade’s beginning in Walt Disney World’s Disney-MGM Studios in December, 1992. The parade was based on the song “Prince Ali” from the animated feature film, with it being played throughout the parade run. The genie was featured in every float in the parade, including a 32-foot-tall Genie and a waving Genie puppet. This was the first parade to be based on a single animated feature film. The parade ended its run in June, 1994, and was replaced with The Lion King Celebration.
