April 1, 2011 – Box Office Gifts Opens in Magic Kingdom Park

On April 1, 2011, the camera supply shop Box Office Gifts opened in Town Square Theater, located in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Park. The area sells gifts that help capture the memories of meeting Mickey Mouse, including MagicBands that keep track of guests’ photos. Guests can also use the kiosks to view their photos and ask for a special print out of their favorites.

March 28, 1987 – The Merchandise Stop Port of Entry Opens in Epcot

“Before or after your trip around World Showcase, stop by for Disney-themed apparel, jewelry and other souvenirs.”

On March 28, 1987, the merchandise store Port of Entry opened in Walt Disney World’s Epcot park. Located at the opening of the World Showcase, the shop provides merchandise from all the countries represented in the area, along with specialty merchandise from other countries, and limited edition items from Epcot’s special events, such as the Food and Wine Festival.

March 27, 1957 – The 25-Millionth Mickey Mouse Watch is Presented in Disneyland

“Walt Disney receives the 25-millionth Mickey Mouse Watch to celebrate its success.”

On March 27, 1957, the Ingersoll-Waterbury Company celebrated a milestone with the 25millionth watch featuring Mickey Mouse having been made. This watch was presented to Walt Disney in a special ceremony in Disneyland. The first Mickey Mouse watch created by the company started with a patent on May 22, 1933, with the first watches being built soon after.

March 23, 1992 – Harrington Bay Clothiers Opens in Downtown Disney

“…keeping you in style with perfect resortware.”

On March 23, 1992, the store Harrington Bay Clothiers opened in Walt Disney World’s Downtown Disney area. The store specialized in men’s fashions, featuring popular brands Polo, Nautica, and Tommy Hilfiger. The store was designed in the style of Bermuda, with the fashions featuring a beach theme. The store was eventually closed on July 15, 2001.

March 19

March 19, 2009 – Tren-D Opens in Walt Disney World

“Transform into a Disney fashionista!”

On March 19, 2009, the clothing store Tren-D opened in Walt Disney World’s Downtown Disney marketplace. The shop specializes in clothing and accessories with a Disney flair for women, including jewelry by Alex & Ani, Harveys for Disney Couture purses, and clothes by Her Universe. The store originally replaced the Summer Sands store, and was added to the Disney Springs expansion.

March 1

March 1, 1986 – Safari Outpost Opens in Disneyland

On March 1, 1986, the merchandise stop Safari Outpost opened in Disneyland’s Adventureland area. The store sold merchandise that reflected the theme of the area; when the Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Forbidden Eye attraction opened in the area, the shop was changed to the Indiana Jones Adventure Outpost, starting in 1995. The shop has completely closed as of 2017.

February 26

February 26, 2008 – The Fantasia Shop Reopens in Disney’s Contemporary Resort

“If your fantasy is to find the ultimate collection of Disney souvenirs…you’ve found the right place.”

On February 26, 2008, the general merchandise stop Disney’s Fantasia Shop reopened in Walt Disney World’s Contemporary Resort. Originally opening in 1971, the shop was moved to the center of the concourse for greater access, and taking the place of the Concourse Sundries. The shop features a large variety of Disney souvenirs, including clothes, snacks, and toys.

February 25

February 25, 1991 – The Frontierland Shop Bearly Country Closes

On February 25, 1991, the store Bearly Country, located in Walt Disney World’s Frontierland in Magic Kingdom Park, closed. Open since June 6, 1985, the shop specialized in merchandise that featured the Country Bears from the Country Bear Jamboree. After closing in 1991, the store then became the Prairie Outpost Supply, and changed its wares to a more generic Southwestern theme.

February 5

February 5, 1996 – Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe Opens in Walt Disney World

“Feel free to celebrate Christmas any day at this Liberty Square shop selling Disney ornaments, stockings, toys and more.”

On February 5, 1996, Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe opened in Walt Disney World’s Liberty Square in Magic Kingdom Park. The store replaced the Olde World Antiques and the Silversmith, and features Christmas and Hanukkah decorations and ornaments with the Disney touch. There is also a small Christmas tree that is decorated by a chosen guest once a day.

February 1, 1995 – The Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. Opens in Walt Disney World

On February 1, 1995, the Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. merchandise stop and arcade opened in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Park, just at the exit of the popular Space Mountain attraction. The shop provides general merchandise, and was one of the first spots within Walt Disney World to provide personalized retail MagicBands, where guests could customize their MagicBands, or cell-phone cases with Disney-related designs.
