May 19, 2006 – The Mission: SPACE Green Team Experience Premieres in Epcot

“Or you can opt for the brand-new – and less intense – orbit around Earth as part of the Green Mission.”

On May 19, 2006, a gentler option of the popular Epcot attraction Mission: SPACE, known as the Green Team, officially premiered. The Green Mission was created as a way to provide the attraction to more guests who are uneasy riding the original attraction (now known as the Orange Mission) due to many cases of severe motion sickness. In the Green Mission, guests no longer travel to Mars, but orbit around the Earth; though no longer using a centrifuge approach to simulate lift-off and reentry, the ride still tilts and moves slightly.

April 13

April 13, 1996 – Goofy’s Bounce House Opens in Tokyo Disneyland

On April 13, 1996, the attraction Goofy’s Bounce House opened Tokyo Disneyland’s Toontown area. It was based on the Disneyland attraction of the same name, where kids under a certain height limit were allowed to bounce around Goofy’s house, as the house is made of a balloon-like substance. The Tokyo Disneyland attraction was eventually replaced by Goofy’s Paint ‘n’ Play House, which opened on August 24, 2012.

April 6, 2007 – The Attraction Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros Opens in Epcot

“Take in the sights of Mexico and the antics of the 3 feathered amigos on this gentle boat ride through the Mexico Pavilion.”

On April 6, 2007, the dark ride attraction Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros opened in the Mexico Pavilion of Walt Disney World’s Epcot park. This attraction replaced the El Río del Tiempo attraction. Featuring Donald Duck, José Carioca, and Panchito from the feature films Saludos Amigos and The Three Caballeros, this ride takes guests through the sights of Mexico as Panchito and José search for their missing friend, Donald.

April 5

April 5, 1998 – The Revamped Enchanted Tiki Room Attraction Opens in Walt Disney World

“Be forewarned, Iago: you cannot toy with the Enchanted Tiki Room.”

On April 5, 1998, the revamped version of the popular Enchanted Tiki Room Attraction, retitled The Enchanted Tiki Room (Under New Management), opened in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Park. The attraction adds characters from Aladdin and The Lion King, with Iago and Zazu acting as the new owners of the Enchanted TIki Room. This “new ownership” was part of an extensive renovation of the attraction; this new version lasted until 2011, after a small fire broke out in the attraction. On August 15, 2011, the attraction returned to its original format, with an edited version of the show.

March 22, ­­2008 – The Interactive Attraction Stitch Live! Opens in Disneyland Paris

“Cowabunga! Chat to, and sing along with, the blue dude himself in the most magical of alien encounters.”

On March 22, 2008, the interactive attraction Stitch Live! opened in Disneyland Paris’ Walt Disney Studios Park. Similar to the attraction Turtle Talk with Crush, guests can interact with the Lilo and Stitch character Stitch, asking him questions and see him wreak havoc during a satellite feed. The Disneyland Paris version was a variation on the Stitch Encounter attraction that opened in Hong Kong Disneyland on July 13, 2006.

March 16

March 16, 2002 – The Attraction Armageddon: les Effets Spéciaux Opens in Disneyland Paris

“Rocket over to the Backlot for an explosive special effects experience in a spacecraft’s control room.”

On March 16, 2002, the backlot attraction Armageddon: les Effets Spéciaux opened in the Walt Disney Studios Park of Disneyland Paris. Guests learn about the history and current techniques of special effects through an interaction with the crew of the Armageddon as the space station is caught in a meteor shower. As the story moves, guests will find themselves in a room where things explode and collapse.

March 15

March 15, 1991 – The Rescue Rangers Raceway Opens in Disneyland

On March 15, 1991, the Rescue Rangers Raceway opened in Disneyland. As part of a promotion for the Disney Afternoon programming block, the attraction Fantasyland Autopia was redesigned to feature the characters from the hit show Chip ‘n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers in the form of cutouts and, sometimes, characters to meet-and-greet near the show if crowds were low. The attraction returned to its original Autopia form on November 10, 1991.

March 13

March 13, 2009 – New Paradise Pier Sign is Added to California Screamin’

On March 13, 2009, as part of the new expansion and renovation of the Paradise Pier area of Disney California Adventure, the new Paradise Pier sign was added to the California Screamin’ attraction. This new sign replaced the former Mickey Mouse silhouette, and was added to change the look of the area from a modern seaside park to the feel of the seaside in the 1920s. The sign hangs above the loop of the roller coaster.

March 7

March 7, 2016 – The Attraction Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters Opens in Disney California Adventure

“Buckle up – you’re in for a lively ride when these Italian imports roll, reel an’ kick up their wheels in Cars Land!”

On March 7, 2016, the Cars Land attraction Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters opened in Disney California Adventure. Based on the Pixar film Cars, the attraction is sponsored by Alamo car rental. Set in Italy, guests can board a car and “dance” to Italian music, with the cars spinning and moving around; each car has a personal set of moves.

January 24

January 24, 1993 – The Attraction Acorn Ball Crawl Opens in Disneyland’s Toontown

On January 24, 1993, the attraction Acorn Ball Crawl opened in Disneyland’s Toontown area. Located in Chip & Dale’s Treehouse, the attraction was essentially a giant ball pit filled with yellow and red rubber balls. The attraction was short lived, however, as it closed and was removed in early 1998.
