January 31

January 31, 2016 – The Shop Seashore Sweets Closes

On January 31, 2016, the candy shop Seashore Sweets, located on Disney’s BoardWalk at Walt Disney World, closed. The shop was fashioned like an Atlantic shore-style candy shop, and featured bulk candy, alongside hand-scooped ice cream. The store was also known for showcasing special pieces from the Miss America Pageant. The area was soon replaced by the AbracadaBar, a specialty lounge.

January 5

January 5, 1986 – Country Manor Opens in Epcot’s England Pavilion

On January 5, 1986, the store Country Manor opened in Epcot’s England Pavilion within the World Showcase. The store replaced the former Biscuit Barrel, though it kept the same kinds of British merchandise as its predecessor. The store was eventually renamed the Magic of Wales, and featured new merchandise.

December 26

December 26, 1989 – The World Traveler Shop Opens in Epcot

“This shop at International Gateway is your passport to Epcot and Disney souvenirs plus cold beverages for your voyage.”

On December 26, 1989, the merchandise stop The World Traveler opened in Walt Disney World’s Epcot Park. Located at the International Gateway near the World Showcase, this shop provides the first bit of merchandise to travelers taking the ferry to get to Epcot from certain Walt Disney World resorts. The shop provides a variety of merchandise ranging from pins to housewares. It also provides cold drinks for guests to take with them in the park, especially on hot Florida days.

December 18

December 18, 1992 – The It’s a Small World Toy Shoppe Opens in Disneyland

On December 18, 1992, the specialty shop It’s a Small World Toy Shoppe opened in Disneyland’s Fantasyland. The shop, sponsored by Mattel, was opened at the exit of the famous it’s a small world attraction and features several toys and games, along with attraction-themed merchandise such as apparel and cell-phone cases.

December 15

December 15, 2015 – The Ganachery Opens in Disney Springs

“…a jewel box of a shop that showcases the beauty of chocolate with an experience much like a wine tasting.”

On December 15, 2015, the gourmet chocolatier The Ganachery opened in Walt Disney World’s Disney Springs area. The store sells chocolate with Disney’s own special recipe for ganache, and sells it with a Disney flair, thanks to some help from the Walt Disney Imagineers. There are a variety of specialty treats, including crispy chocolate pearls, handmade chocolate truffles, and bars with flavors to match Disney Parks or Disney characters.

December 6

December 6, 2012 – The After Market Shop Opens in Epcot

“After your wild ride, slow down and rubberneck tons of Test Track merchandise: toy cars, pit crew caps, pins and more.”

On December 6, 2012, the After Market Shop opened in Epcot, in the exit area of the Test Track attraction. The new name for the gift shop in the Inside Track exhibit area, the area sells Chevrolet-themed items, such as attire and model cars. The store was part of the refurbishment that was done on the Test Track attraction, and has since been renamed the Test Track SIMporium.

December 2

December 2, 1988 – The First Company D Store Opens in Disneyland

On December 2, 1988, the first cast member store, known as Company D, opened in Disneyland. The store offers deals on Disney merchandise to those with a Disney company badge; they also provide special merchandise created just for cast members, including pins, t-shirts, and watches. Two other Company D stores were opened in Walt Disney World: in the Team Disney Building on June 4, 1991; and in Epcot on April 1, 1992.

November 23

November 23, 1988 – The Merchandise Shop Crocodile Mercantile Opens in Critter Country

On November 23, 1988, the merchandise shop Crocodile Mercantile opened in Disneyland’s Critter Country. The store, originally known as Ursus H. Bear’s Wilderness Outpost, sold items related to the famous Critter Country attraction Splash Mountain, along with some other small items. To go with the store’s name, a giant crocodile figure was suspended from the ceiling. The store was closed in 1995 to become the store Pooh Corner.

November 22

November 22, 1994 – The Resort Shop Maestro Mickey’s Opens in Disney’s All Star Music Resort

“Disney-themed merchandise, swim accessories, sundries and snacks offer the shopping equivalent of music to your ears.”

On November 22, 1994, the resort shop Maestro Mickey’s opened in Disney’s All Star Music Resort in Walt Disney World. The name and signage from the store is inspired by the 1942 short film Symphony Hour. Like many resort stores, it features a variety of Disney merchandise ranging from clothes to toys, along with snacks and supplies for resort guests (including toiletries and magazines).

November 15

November 15, 2010 – The Merchandise Shop Hundred Acre Goods Opens in Walt Disney World

“Forage for all things Pooh and friends at this popular shop next to The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh attraction.”

On November 15, 2010, the themed merchandise store Hundred Acre Goods opened in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Park. Featuring Winnie the Pooh merchandise, the store is near the attraction The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Merchandise available includes apparel, plush toys, and mugs. The store replaced a similar spot called Pooh’s Thotful Shop. Hundred Acre Goods is also the name of a store in Shanghai Disneyland.
