July 6, 1997 – The Grand Floridian Restaurant Flagler’s Closes

“Specialties include Veal Scaloppini with Marsala Wine Sauce and Sauteed Shrimp.”

On July 6, 1997, the Grand Floridian restaurant Flagler’s closed. Open since 1988, the restaurant specialized in Italian cuisine. After it closed, it was replaced with Citricos, a restaurant that had a Mediterranean-inspired menu.

June 23, 1995 – The Quick Service Stand Meeko’s Opens in Disneyland

On June 23, 1995, the quick service stand Meeko’s opened in Disneyland. Originally called Yumz, the stand changed its name after The Spirit of Pocahontas live stage show premiered at Videopolis; the stand was named after the racoon character from the animated feature film Pocahontas. It served quick, basic food, such as nachos and pizza. It closed on September 5, 1997.

June 6, 2002 – The Restaurant Café des Cascadeurs Opens in Walt Disney Studios Paris

“Café des Cascadeurs: where Hollywood’s bravest fill up on courage.”

On June 6, 2002, the quick service restaurant Café des Cascadeurs opened in Walt Disney Studios Paris. The restaurant is themed like a 1950s diner, featuring a beef, chicken, or veggie burger, along with Ben and Jerry’s ice cream for dessert.

May 15, 2016 – The Quick Service Restaurant D-Luxe Burger Opens in Disney Springs

“Satisfy gourmet cravings at this ranch-inspired eatery overlooking the springs.”

On May 15, 2016, the quick service casual restaurant D-Luxe Burger opened in Disney Springs, Walt Disney World. As its name suggests, the restaurant serves gourmet burgers, including the El Diablo Burger that features chorizo, fried banana peppers, and chipotle mayonnaise. The restaurant is also known for its gelato milkshakes, with flavors such as smoked bourbon and s’mores.

April 13, 2015 – The Restaurant The Boathouse Opens in Disney Springs

On April 13, 2015, the upscale restaurant The Boathouse opened in Disney Springs (previously Downtown Disney). The restaurant serves American style food, from steaks to seafood, including a raw bar; it is placed at The Landing, giving guests a good view of the water as they dine. The restaurant also offers champagne and wine-tasting cruises around the restaurant in an Italian water taxi.

April 6, 1990 – The Blue Ribbon Bakery Opens in Disneyland

“Delicious coffee and world famous fresh baked goods.”

On April 6, 1990, the Blue Ribbon Bakery quick service shop opened in Disneyland on Main Street. The shop took the place of the long-running Sunkist Citrus House, which had opened on July 31, 1960, and closed on January 3, 1989. The bakery served several kinds of pastries with coffee for breakfast, and a variety of sandwiches for lunch, along with several Disneyland-famous desserts for any time of day. The bakery was moved to where the former Carnation Ice Cream Parlor was located in 1997, and eventually was closed on January 5, 2012.

March 17, 2016 – The Oasis Bar & Grill Opens in Walt Disney World

“Take a break from the sun and imbibe on some fun at this poolside retreat.”

On Ma­rch 17, 2016, the Oasis Bar & Grill poolside quick service restaurant opened in Walt Disney World’s Polynesian Village Resort. The restaurant provides guests with some light Polynesian-inspired fare, along with a selection of cocktails, beer and wine, and other non-alcoholic beverages.

January 21, 1955 – The Dairy Bar Opens in Disneyland

On January 21, 1955, the Dairy Bar opened in Disneyland’s Tomorrowland area. Sponsored by the American Dairy Association, it was a mix of a presentation about the future of milk and milk delivery and a quick service restaurant serving milk in a small dining room. The area did not prove to be as popular as other future-looking presentations within Tomorrowland, and was closed on September 1, 1958.

January 7, 2012 – The Quick-Service Restaurant Jolly Holiday Bakery Opens in Disneyland

On January 7, 2012, the quick-service restaurant Jolly Holiday Bakery opened in Disneyland’s Plaza Pavilion, after a soft opening on January 5. Taking its theme from the live-action Disney movie Mary Poppins, the restaurant features characters from the “Jolly Holiday” scene of the film, including stained glass windows of the penguin waiters. The restaurant offers several delectable baked goods, including seasonal cookies and the famous Matterhorn Macaroon. Lunch dishes are also served at the café after 10:30.

December 14, 2001 – The Wine Country Trattoria Restaurant Opens in Disney’s California Adventure

On December 14, 2001, the fine-dining restaurant Wine Country Trattoria opened in the Golden Vine Winery area of Disney’s California Adventure. Replacing the Wine Country Market, the restaurant serves healthy Mediterranean cuisine, with each dish listed with an ideal wine pairing from a variety of 25 different wines. The restaurant also has a special World of Color Dining Package, where guests can have dinner and a reserved spot to view the World of Color evening show. Menu items include Aged Cheddar Risotto Bites, Broccolini Aglio Olio, and Wine Country Tiramisu.
