September 22, 2015 – Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar Opens in Disney Springs

“Quench your thirst for action at this 1940s airplane hangar turned dive bar – ex-home of Indiana Jones’ sidekick and pilot.”

On September 22, 2015, Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar opened in Walt Disney World’s Disney Springs area. Named after the pilot in the first Indiana Jones franchise film, Raiders of the Lost Ark, the bar resembles an airplane hangar, complete with artifacts and airplane parts. Disney Imagineers even created a backstory for the bar’s location: Jones and Lindsey happened to discover Disney Springs in 1938 while pursuing a tip about something mythological located in central Florida. Jones went on to have adventures while Lindsey stayed behind to open his own hangar in the area and fly specialized seaplane tours. The bar was born after Lindsey’s friends and fellow members of the Society of Explorers and Adventurers kept stopping by, which turned the hangar into a popular watering hole. The drinks and dishes are inspired by Lindsey’s travels, including Incan Tuna Tacos, Old World Pizza of San Marco, and The Scottish Professor, a drink featuring Scotch whiskey, gin, pear nectar, syrup, and lemon juice.
