On March 27, 2007, the soundtrack for Disney’s 47th animated feature film Meet the Robinsons was released through Walt Disney Records. The soundtrack features popular artists The All-American Rejects, Rufus Wainwright, and Rob Thomas, the latter of which wrote the song “Little Wonders” which was featured during the film’s ending and credits. The band They Might Be Giants were also featured, singing a cover of the Disney Park attraction song “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” from the Carousel of Progress. On March 1, 1995, the 37th Annual Grammy Awards were held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. The Lion King was the big winner of the night, winning four awards: The Lion King – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack won Best Musical Album for Children, The Lion King Read-Along won Best Spoken Word Album for Children, Elton John won Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” and “Circle of Life” won Best Instrumental Arrangement with Accompanying Vocals.

February 23, 2000 – Phil Collins Wins Grammy Award for Tarzan Soundtrack

On February 23, 2000, the 42nd Grammy Awards were held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Among the winners of the night was Phil Collins and Mark Mancina for their work on the soundtrack for the Disney Animated Feature Film Tarzan; the pair were also the first to win this award, as it was established at this ceremony. The album won against American Beauty, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, The Matrix, and The Prince of Egypt.

February 10

February 10, 2008 – Ratatouille Soundtrack Wins Grammy Award

On February 10, 2008, the 50th Grammy Awards were held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Michael Giacchino would win the Grammy for Best Score Soundtrack Album for his work on Pixar’s animated feature Ratatouille. This was Giacchino’s first Grammy Award win with Pixar, although he had been nominated for The Incredibles in 2005. The album won against scores such as Gustavo Santaolalla’s Babel, James Newton Howard’s Blood Diamond, Howard Shore’s The Deaprted, John Powell’s Happy Feet, and Javier Navarrete’s Pan’s Lanyrinth.

November 2, 2004 – Walt Disney Records Presents Superstar Hits is Released

On November 2, 2004, Walt Disney Records released the compilation album Walt Disney Records Presents Superstar Hits. The album contained pop versions of Disney songs from Disney’s more modern era, ranging from Beauty and the Beast, to Pixar’s Monsters Inc., to Treasure Planet; several of these songs were included in the credits of these animated films. Artists ranged from Peabo Bryson, Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera, and Tina Turner.

November 1, 2005 – The Soundtrack to Chicken Little is Released Through Walt Disney Records

On November 1, 2005, the soundtrack to Disney’s 46th animated feature film Chicken Little was released through Walt Disney Records. The film features no original songs, but covers of popular songs from a wide range of genres, including “Shake a Tail Feather” performed by the Cheetah Girls (originally by The Five Du-Tones), and “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” by the cast of the film (originally by Elton John and Kiki Dee. The soundtrack also features the score of the film by John Debney.

October 4, 2005 – The Special Edition Soundtrack for Cinderella is Released Through Walt Disney Records

On October 4, 2005, in conjunction with the Platinum Edition home video release, the Special Edition Soundtrack for the animated feature Cinderella was released through Walt Disney Records. The album featured songs from the hit animated feature, and included extras in the form of demo recordings of songs cut from the film, as well as a cover of “A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes” by Kimberley Locke and the song “Beautiful” by Jim Brickman and Wayne Brady.

August 15, 2006 – The Cheetah Girls 2 Soundtrack is Released Through Walt Disney Records

On August 15, 2006, the soundtrack to the Disney Channel Original Movie The Cheetah Girls 2 was released through Walt Disney Records. The album was a major success compared to its predecessor, debuting and peaking at number five on the Billboard 200, and peaking at number one on the Top Soundtrack Albums chart. The album would go on to be certified platinum by the RIAA after selling over 1.4 million copies. The album also spawned five singles: “The Party’s Just Begun,” “Strut,” “Step Up,” “Amigas Cheetahs,” and “Dance With Me.”

August 14

August 14, 2007 – The Soundtrack for High School Musical 2 is Released Through Walt Disney Records

On August 14, 2007, the soundtrack for the Disney Channel Original Movie High School Musical 2 was released through Walt Disney Records. The album peaked at number one on the digital iTunes and Amazon.com charts on its first week of release, and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, remaining there for four weeks. The album spawned four singles: “What Time is It?,” “I Don’t Dance,” “You Are the Music in Me,” and “Gotta Go My Own Way.” The album continued to chart in various countries, ranging from peak positions of number one to number 21. The album would eventually become the best-selling album of 2007.

July 31, 2015 – Descendants: Original TV Movie Soundtrack is Released Through Walt Disney Records

On July 31, 2015, the album Descendants: Original TV Movie Soundtrack was released through Walt Disney Records. The soundtrack captured the songs from the Disney Channel film Descendants, starring Dove Cameron, Cameron Boyce, Booboo Stewart, Sofia Carson, and Kristin Chenoweth; the album also features the song “Believe” by recording artist Shawn Mendes. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, and peaked at number one on the Kids Albums and the Soundtrack Albums charts. It would also go on to chart on several international chart lists.
