March 20, 2012 – The Muppets Receive a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

On March 20, 2012, the Muppets were awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in front of the El Capitan Theater in Los Angeles, California. On hand for the ceremony was Rich Ross, then-President of the Walt Disney Studios; Lisa and Brian Henson, the daughter and son of late Muppets creator Jim Henson; several Muppeteers; and Muppets Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, Pepe, and Walter from the 2011 film The Muppets. The award coincided with the release of The Muppets on DVD and Blu-Ray. This is the fourth star overall awarded to the Muppets and Jim Henson: Henson was awarded posthumously on September 24, 1991; Big Bird from Sesame Street was inducted on April 21, 1994; and Kermit the Frog was inducted on November 14, 2002.

September 26, 2006 – Vanessa Hudgens’ Debut Album, V, is Released Through Hollywood Records

“When it’s not alright, when it’s not ok, will you try to make me feel better?”

On September 26, 2006, the debut album of High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens, titled V, was released through Disney’s Hollywood Records. With two promotional singles – “Come Back to Me” and “Say OK” – the album debuted and peaked at twenty-four on the Billboard Charts. It was certified Gold on February 2, 2007. The first single, “Come Back to Me,” was released on August 25, 2006, peaking at 55 on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts and 18 on the Billboard Pop Song chart. “Say OK,” the second single, was released much later, on March 27, 2007, faring much better on the charts, as it hit number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and peaked at number 7 on the Billboard Pop Song chart. Overall, the album received positive feedback.

August 7, 2007 – The Jonas Brothers’ Second Album is Released on Hollywood Records

“Cause an empty room can be so loud, there’s too many tears to drown them out, so hold on.”

On August 7, 2007, the Jonas Brothers released their second album, Jonas Brothers, their first release on Disney’s Hollywood Records label. The album reached the number 5 spot on the Billboard 200 chart on its first week of release, and has been certified 2x Platinum since its release. Four singles were released from the album: “Year 3000” (a cover song originally by Busted), “Hold On,” “SOS,” and “When You Look Me in the Eyes.” A repackaged version of the album was released on October 30, 2007, as the Bonus Jonas Edition.

The group, consisting of brothers Nick, Joe, and Kevin Jonas, had signed with the Disney label in February of 2007, and participated in a few Disney projects leading up to their album release: a reimagining of the song “Kids in America” for the soundtrack for Meet the Robinsons, and a cover version of “I Wanna Be Like You” for the compilation album DisneyMania 5. A tour for the album, titled the Look Me In The Eyes Tour began on January 31, 2008, in Tucson, Arizona.
